Yeah, you're talking to an old OS/2 guy. I thought it was the best on the desktop in it's time. Then Microsoft stole the technology from IBM which used the main scheduler from IBM VM environment. After that Windows NT was the logical choice, simply because we were at the vanguard of having SMP in the data center and NT supported out of the box. Big mistake on IBM's part.

Hi, quite a bit late for a response to that question, but... yes. There's still a lot of people using eComStation, albeit not that much in a professional context.
You are correct on the assumption that eCS is the successor to OS/2. A lot of stuff that needed to be "on top" is now built-in to it, especially SMP while we're at it... ACPI makes progress as well, not to mention ALSA-like support for sound, WiFi, etc.

Feel free to PM me for more detailed questions about eComStation. If you need a good one-stop location for all questions related, you can also check out http://www.os2world.com (and its forums).

I figured you could, since the Mac hardware is now just a high-end PC, but I've never tried it myself. I've run Windows and Linux on MacBook Pros with minor driver issues (mostly the webcam), but with relative ease!

Sooner or later you will have the MacOS running on a PC if someone hasn’t done it already.

You can run Mac OS on a PC.

I think every one has their favorite operating system, for instance I use Windows. My husband can you Windows, but prefers the MacOS. My son (the engineer) uses almost everything know to man and can do things with each one of them that most people can't.

So I guess... It doesnt matter. It really revolves around which one you are comfortable with!

@probabilityzero

Just hypothetically speaking. I know when I am working in the field, I put in at least 50 hours at work, so when I get home, I don't spend as much time developing solutions or software.
